Pyramoon Studio is proud to announce that its debut feature film,It’s Not the Time, received theBest Screenplay Awardat the first edition of the UAFF — Uluslararası Afet Film Festivali (International Disaster Film Festival) — held in Ankara on May 21-26, 2024.
The festival’s opening edition was marked by a vibrant and emotionally resonant ceremony featuring live music performances dedicated to the victims of Turkey’s recent earthquakes. The award ceremony gathered filmmakers and audiences from around the world, making it a moment of both remembrance and cinematic celebration.
The film was written and directed by Moein Rahmanzadeh, who attended the ceremony and witnessed the public screening of It’s Not the Time for the first time, surrounded by a live audience. The announcement of the award, accompanied by his name and the film’s title echoing through the hall, was a defining moment in Pyramoon’s journey.
Set against the backdrop of a city shaken by rumors of an imminent earthquake, It’s Not the Time follows Nima, a young man who chooses to stay behind as the rest of the city evacuates. The screenplay posed a unique creative challenge, with the narrative centered almost entirely on a single character — a bold decision that captivated the UAFF jury.
This award has been a key milestone for Pyramoon, strengthening its presence in Turkey and opening new doors for international collaborations.
During the festival, Moein also met Japanese documentary filmmaker Kazuya Isobe, whose film won the Best Documentary Award. Pyramoon Studio is honored to take on the distribution of Isobe’s next documentary project — an exciting step in its expanding international network.
